A Kula man was arrested for assaulting another man with a flashlight after they argued Thursday night at the animal stockyard at Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park in Kula, police said.
Bail was set at $1,000 for Eric Ventura, 56, who was charged with second-degree assault.
Ventura and a 47-year-old Kula man got into an argument over money while drinking at the stockyard at 8:30 p.m., said Lt. Jayson Rego of the Criminal Investigation Division. When the argument became physical, others broke up the two men and Ventura walked away, Rego said.
Approximately 10 minutes later, Ventura returned with a Maglite flashlight and hit the other man while he was sitting down, Rego said. He said that the victim was treated for a 3-inch laceration to his chin, which required stitches.
