Wailuku's pool was being threatened to be closed as the owner wanted to develop the land. The impact would have been devastating to our community. We gathered signatures from students from Wailuku Elementary School to save the pool.
Standing in his office, he greeted me warmly at his Hart Building office in Washington, D.C. We chatted about our petition and his desire to continue to teach our young people about civics. He emphasized the importance of being able to express yourself no matter the reason.

Aloha, Sen. Dan Inouye. You stood up for the little people in our community. You will never be forgotten.
