Sen. Inouye always quick to respond to nonprofit

December 26, 2012
The Maui News

The staff and volunteers at Hale Kau Kau, the nonprofit program that serves and delivers free daily meals to the needy in South Maui, are saddened at the loss of a friend and supporter - Sen. Daniel K. Inouye.

Whenever we asked Sen. Inouye for a donation for our annual fundraiser dinner/auction, he and his office responded quickly and enthusiastically. In the past years, the donations consisted of Old Glory flown over the Capitol in Washington or an autographed copy of his World War II book. Each was a much sought-after auction item. We will miss what we are sure Sen. Inouye would have donated to the 14th annual fundraiser on March 2.

We mourn the passing of a loyal friend and we bid a prayerful and fond aloha to this great man.

Sen. Inouye, mahalo for having been there when we asked for help.

Mahalo nui loa. The world will miss you.
