Something I think each household should do is hang a sign on the refrigerator door or the door going into the garage that says: "If you're late, you're late - call ahead."
With all the communications devices available today, it is a simple thing. Speeding to make up the time is not going to work. That has been proved over and over again on Honoapiilani Highway.
Since the 1970s through 1980s as a truck driver delivering concrete, building materials, general freight for all the hotels for the West Maui area, and driving tours and moving tourists on that highway through the 1980s until 2012, and even now in my own private vehicle, I found out that the two-lane stretch of highway is not safe for passing, especially now, when traffic is much heavier than before.
Call ahead so people know you're coming and they won't be short one worker because they know you're on the way. Your family loves you, too. Show 'em you care. Use common sense and call ahead.
