NOV. 2-Saint Francis School rallies from two sets down for a 19-25, 19-25, 25-14, 25-19, 15-9 victory over Seabury Hall in the girls volleyball Division II state championship final at Blaisdell Arena. Ian Walsh of Haiku is announced as one of 28 surfers invited to the 2012-13 Quiksilver in Memory of Eddie Aikau, considered by many to be the world's premier big-wave contest.
NOV. 3-Malcolm Cooper, Toyoko Takeyama and Spencer Shiraishi are inducted into the Hawaii Swimming Hall of Fame. Cooper, who has coached at multiple levels, is an organizer for the Maui Age Group Swimming Association, and chairman of the board of directors for Hawaii Masters Swimming and Hawaii Age-Group Swimming. Takeyama was a member of the Hawaii Swim Club team that took the women's 300-meter medley relay bronze medal at the U.S. outdoor championships in 1941. Shiraishi, a coach for more than six decades, has helped guide myriad champions, most significantly with Maui Swim Club.
NOV. 9-Longtime Baldwin wrestling coach Garner Ivey, who helped start the sport in the Maui Interscholastic League, dies at 84.

NOV. 10-Granger Larsen of Napili places second in the HIC Pro at Sunset Beach on Oahu's North Shore, behind former Association of Surfing Professionals world champion Sunny Garcia. Jesse and Jenny Sterick, a husband and wife from Olympia, Wash., win the Harbor to Harbor runs. Jesse Sterick covers the 10.7-mile course from Maakaea to Kihei in 59 minutes, 14 seconds, while Jenny Sterick is the top female finisher, in 1:09:46.
NOV. 14-The Dallas Cowboys sign defensive lineman Tevita Finau, a former Lahainaluna and Maui High player. He would be released Nov. 29.
NOV. 17-Imaikalani DeVault wins the open male title and Lani Doherty is the open female champion at the Alpine Stars/Hi-Tech/Lopez Surfbash at Hookipa Beach Park. The other champions are Jackson Bunch (under 10), Ty Ty Kirby (under 12), Logan Bediamol (under 14), Ean Kimmel (under 16), Summer Macedo (under 14 girls), Jason Scapania (bodyboard) and Zane Schweitzer (longboard).
NOV. 18-Samalia Berger-Mataafa, a Lahainaluna graduate competing for American Samoa, wins the FILA world amateur mixed martial arts championship at 71 kilograms, finishing 2-0 in the three-person, round-robin competition in Krakow, Poland. Liz Cabe is named the outstanding female deadlifter at the World Association of Benchers and Deadlifters world championships in Las Vegas, and two other Maui competitors set Hawaii records - Llumel Magana in the male teen division deadlift (523 pounds), and Colleen Loo in the female 105-pound deadlift (333 pounds).
NOV. 19-Chaminade earns its seventh win in 82 games in the EA Sports Maui Invitational, defeating Texas 86-73 in the first round at the Lahaina Civic Center.
NOV. 21-Illinois defeats Butler 78-61 in the Maui Invitational title game. Tournament MVP Brandon Paul scores 20 points in the final for the Illini, who won their three games by an average of 23.3 points, the best by a tournament champion since 2008. In the third-place game, North Carolina defeats Chaminade 112-70, improving to 15-3 in the tournament to tie Duke for the most Maui wins. Blane Gaison is named the athletic director at Kamehameha Maui. Gaison - who spent four years in the NFL, with the Atlanta Falcons from 1981 to 1984 - had been the AD at Kamehameha Kapalama since 2006.
NOV. 23-Reece Foy throws a touchdown pass to Tanner Nishioka with 1 minute, 53 seconds left, and Iolani defeats Lahai-naluna 36-33 in the Division II state football title game at Aloha Stadium.
