Because of an extended power outage in Olinda on Saturday, Upper Kula residents were urged to conserve water this weekend, the county Department of Water Supply announced.
The 2 million gallon Omaopio Tank was nearly empty, and residents were advised that they could have low water pressure or no water if the tank cannot be refilled to safe levels.
The Upper Kula water system includes Kula above Kula Highway, Waiakoa, Waiohuli, Keokea, Ulupalakua and Kanaio.
In case of a water emergency, residents may call 270-7633.
Maui Electric Co. reported that power service was restored to the Piiholo and Olinda areas as of 5 p.m. Saturday. There was no immediate report on when the outage started or on its cause.
