Sen. Inouye should have kept preference private

January 6, 2013
The Maui News

All you crybabies, get over it.

Sen. Daniel Inouye was within his rights to tell Gov. Neil Abercrombie who he favored to succeed him. However, he was out of line trying to influence the selection by making his preference public knowledge. We are all entitled to one vote and we do it in the privacy of a voting booth.

Abercrombie should have appointed our most qualified person for senator - our former governor, who truly represents a large percentage of the people of Hawaii and who finished second in the 2012 election - Linda Lingle.
