Bail should be denied and community protected

January 8, 2013
The Maui News

It is so sad the news of Jamie Hosaki being murdered by a thief in Kihei. Jamie was a wonderful guy, a kind man, friendly and totally committed to his work and his customers, a real pillar in the community.

The Jan. 3 paper had an article that seemed to make all kind of excuses for the murderer - he had mental problems and such.

I thought I was misreading the article when it said his bail was $50,000. Bail? For murder in the process of committing theft?

Please, can someone in the courts please protect this community, nix the bail idea and put this man in the deepest dark hole they have at Maui Community Correctional Center?
