Quick action needed to stop graffiti vandalism

January 19, 2013
The Maui News

There has recently been an increase in the size and scope of graffiti along Baldwin Avenue and Hana Highway.

Once taggers get started, this type of vandalism can quickly get out of control, causing blight and safety concerns for both residents and visitors. Therefore, prompt action is now required by the Maui Police Department to increase surveillance and law enforcement.

Also, the mayor and Maui County Council should review present laws and statutes to see if existing penalties need to be enhanced.
