1938 - Little Orphan Annie, which has been the most popular comic strip feature for years will make her radio debut in Hawaii over station KGMB. The program is sponsored by Ovaltine.

50 Years Ago

1963 - Directors of the Lahaina Restoration Foundation confirmed four officers at their first meeting. Mrs. Keith Tester will take the role as president. The by-laws were unanimously approved and committees organized.

25 Years Ago

1988 - There's no ocean outside the door. No golf course. No disco. No TV in the rooms. And on a rainy day, the guests they read. For this, they pay anywhere from $416 to $646 a day. Hotel Hana-Maui is for people who want to be with themselves.

2003 - Democrat Ed Case finished well ahead of his 43 opponents to win the special congressional election for Hawaii's second district and become the final member selected for the 108th Congress. Democrat Matt Matsunaga finished second.
