Spartans girls, Warriors boys complete perfect runs

The Seabury Hall girls and Kamehameha Maui boys crews each took first place in the fifth and final regatta of the Maui Interscholastic League schedule on Saturday at Kahului Harbor, completing undefeated regular seasons.

The Spartans' Kamaile Lee, Bela Hamilton, Alexis Smith, Mikaela McDaniel, Hiilei Aiwohi and Kaulu Luuwai won the girls race in 4 minutes, 15.47 seconds. Molokai was second in 4:24.70

In the boys' race, the Warriors' Bryce Takabayashi, Maleko Lorenzo, Kauanoe Vanderpoel, Elijah Won, Kupaa Luat-Hueu and Dustin Tacdol won in 3.44.23. Baldwin was second, 6.65 seconds behind.

Seabury won the mixed race for the fourth time this season, with Luuwai, Lee, Hamilton, Adam Ferrier, Mogul Luuwai and Alden Simmer crossing the finish line in 3:53.06. Kamehameha (3:57.32) was second.

The MIL receives two lanes in the state regatta, scheduled for Friday at Oahu's Keehi Lagoon. The Warriors finished second in the league's season standings in the girls and mixed divisions, and the Spartans were the boys runners-up.
