The University of Hawaii and Brigham Young announced the cancellation of their football series Monday. The teams were scheduled to meet on Dec. 7 at Aloha Stadium and in 2014 in Provo, Utah.
The announcement comes after the Mountain West Conference, which includes UH, said a championship between its two division winners would be on the date this year's game between the Warriors and Cougars was to have taken place.
In a release, UH said the schools agreed to consider a future series.
The Warriors and Cougars are former Western Athletic Conference rivals, and met in nonconference games in 2011 and last year - BYU won both.
