Neighbors used a garden hose to help fight a fire Tuesday night in a room of a house on Kaae Road in Wailuku, a fire official said.
Damage was estimated at $1,000 from the fire caused by an overloaded circuit, said Fire Services Chief Lee Mainaga.
He said Wailuku and Kahului fire crews were dispatched to the fire reported at 9:01 p.m. Firefighters extinguished the fire, which was contained to one room, at 10:32 p.m. and ventilated the home, Mainaga said.
