A 60-year-old Colorado man died Saturday after falling during a hike in the Waihou Spring Forest Reserve.
Fire crews from Makawao and Kahului responded to the incident on the west-facing slope of Haleakala around 11:30 a.m.
The man and three other hikers were on the Waihou Spring trail within the reserve when he slipped and fell approximately 50 feet, according to a fire official.
