The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a wind advisory for the island of Lanai and the summit of Haleakala through 6 p.m. today.
A wind advisory means that winds of 30 mph and gusts up to 50 mph are expected.
The weather service said that strong winds can make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Residents are urged to secure loose objects.
