The Maui News

Bail was set at $5,300 for a Pukalani woman who was arrested for breaking into the house of a woman she knows and assaulting someone in the residence last month, police said.

Letitia Kahaleauki-Souza, 19, was charged with first-degree burglary, third-degree assault and fourth-degree criminal property damage.

The incident occurred at 11:15 a.m. Jan. 28 when Kahaleauki-Souza went to the residence on Papali Lane in Wailuku and started a fight with the other woman, police said. Kahaleauki-Souza kicked in the door to enter the house, where she argued with the woman before assaulting another woman who was at the home, police said.

Kahaleauki-Souza left before police arrived. She was arrested after turning herself in at the Wailuku Police Station at 11 a.m. Tuesday after she heard there was an all-points bulletin for her arrest.
