Hawaii men overwhelm Long Beach State

Hauns Brereton scored 21 points and Christian Standhardinger added 20 points and 13 rebounds as the University of Hawaii men's basketball team routed Long Beach State 95-73 on Thursday at the Stan Sheriff Center in Honolulu.

Vander Joaquim had 18 points, Brandon Spearman scored 16 and Brandon Jawato contributed 12 for the Rainbow Warriors (14-9, 8-4 Big West), who won their fourth straight.

Hawaii, which led 53-20 at halftime, shot 32-of-59 from the field, including 7-of-14 from 3-point range. It also held a 46-21 edge in rebounds.

Tony Freeland scored 18 for the 49ers (13-8, 9-2).

Hawaii will host UC Irvine on Saturday
