The Vocational Service Award for a community program was presented to Hale Kau Kau at a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Kihei Sunrise.
Hale Kau Kau is the only agency on Maui that serves meals to the hungry every day. The program provides hot meals to people including the homeless, the working poor, those with illnesses that impact their ability to provide for themselves and the homebound elderly, ill and disabled.
Along with the award certificate, a check for $500 was presented to the group. The funds were raised at the club's annual Spaghetti Dinner, which was held last fall. Receiving the Vocational Service Award and $500 contribution for Hale Kau Kau was St. Theresa Church's business manager, Paul Corarito.
