The University of Hawaii men's volleyball team took two of the first three sets against UC Irvine before eventually losing 21-25, 25-14, 21-25, 25-17, 15-11 to the top-ranked team in the American Volleyball Coaches poll Monday in Irvine.
Kevin Tillie had 22 kills and Colin Mehring had 13 for the Anteaters (13-3, 10-3 Moun-tain Pacific Sports Federation).
Brook Sedore had a career-high 20 kills for 11th-ranked UH (5-9, 4-7), which fell to 1-6 on the road this season. Sinisa Zarkovic added 15 kills and J.P. Marks had 13.
The teams are scheduled to meet again today.
