The Spartans have never finished better than fourth in the state.

The Maui Interscholastic League has not had a team in a state-title game since Maui High lost to Punahou in the 1990 final. The MIL has produced two state champions - Lahainaluna won the final A Division tournament, in 1982, and St. Anthony claimed the A Division title in 1977.

In Division I, Baldwin and third-seeded King Kekaulike advanced to a meeting in the fifth-place game.

King Kekaulike defeated Mililani 67-50, and Baldwin was a 58-49 winner over Pearl City.

Chase Iwata-Bartelme sank three 3-pointers on the way to 23 points for Na Alii (15-1), Jacob Havron scored 14 points and Gabe Gunter added 12. Ian Namu scored 18 points for the Trojans (11-6).

Only four players scored for the Bears (12-4) - Teva Eldredge led the way with 31 points, and Ryan Garces had 19. Isaac Amorin was the leading scorer for the Chargers (11-5), with 15 points.

King Kekaulike is 4-0 against Baldwin this season.
