The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended a high-surf advisory for the east-facing shores of Maui and Molokai through 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Strong trade winds will continue to keep surf elevated and rough through Tuesday.
Surf is expected to reach 7 to 10 feet on each-facing shores, the National Weather Service reported. Surf heights are estimates of the faces, or fronts, of waves. People are urged to stay out of the water and away from the shore break, due to hazardous wave action and strong rip currents.
