Hope Morikawa, last year's Maui Interscholastic League Division I Softball Player of the Year, pitched a five-hitter and had a triple and two RBIs as Lahainaluna High School started the defense of its MIL championship with a 10-5 victory over Kamehameha Maui on Wednesday in Lahaina.
Morikawa also struck out six batters.
Rhyn Lendio led off the Lunas' five-run fourth inning with a home run and finished 2-for-4. Kaua Arcangel was 2-for-3 with a triple and drove in a run, Hailey Nakamura was 2-for-3 with a double and RBI and Tobi Bonifacio also had two hits.
