Tree cuts power in Lahaina

March 2, 2013
The Maui News

Four strands of electrical lines came down on Front Street in Lahaina due to a fallen tree, causing a power outage Friday afternoon from the Olowalu side of Front Street to Ukumehame, said Maui Electric Co. spokeswoman Kau'i Awai-Dickson.

MECO began gradually restoring service in the early afternoon. Power was restored to all customers around 5:40 p.m.

At 3 p.m., the county reported the area from 300 Front St. to Shaw Street closed to vehicles and pedestrians due to the downed power lines. The road was reopened at about 6 p.m.
