I'm the first to criticize when I am inconvenienced. But this time I must give kudos to the state Department of Transportation and its contractor who, for the past couple of months, has been adding a coat of asphalt to the Honoapiilani Highway between Lahaina and the Kaanapali resort.
All work is being done at night when most of us are asleep. And thanks also to the workers who obviously do not sleep at night. Good job.
It probably costs a bit more to do all the work at night, but it's a pittance compared to the inconvenience it would cause to residents and visitors if accomplished during the daylight hours.
Our state highway is being preserved in a cost-effective manner, as are the suspensions and tires of our vehicles.
