* CANOE PADDLING

Saturday and March 10-Kihei Canoe Club will conduct paddling, information and registration events for paddlers of all experience levels on Saturday and March 10, from 8 a.m. to noon each day, at Ka Lae Pohaku. April 6-Kihei Canoe Club will host the Paddlers Open Regatta on April 6 at Ka Lae Pohaku, with registration beginning at 7 a.m. and races starting at 8:30 a.m. The entry fee for the event, a fundraiser for the club's keiki and seasonal programs, is $135 until April 5, and $150 on race day. * CHEERLEADING

* CYCLING

April 28-29-The Maui Stage Race is scheduled for April 28-29. On the first day, a time trial is scheduled for 6:30 a.m. and a criterium for 2 p.m., both in Kahului. On the second day, a 36-mile road race will begin at 6:30 a.m. in Keokea. The registration fees for adults are $35 for the time trial, $45 for the criterium and $70 for the road race, or $125 for all three. The junior entry fees are $10 each for the time trial or criterium, and $20 for the road race, or $40 for all three. Contact: mauistagerace.com.

* FOOTBALL

Saturday-Registration for the West Side Football Clinics is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Lahaina Cannery Mall. The clinic will have instruction at Lahaina Intermediate School on alternating Saturdays from April 6 to June 29. The fee is $10, which also pays for a T-shirt. March 16-The Maui Filipino Chamber Foundation of Commerce's scholarship golf tournament is scheduled for March 16 at The Dunes at Maui Lani in Kahului. The event is also seeking sponsors and donations of money, or items to be used as door prizes. Forms to register or offer sponsorship can be downloaded at mauifilipinochamber.com.

March 30-The Pharmacy Group scholarship golf tournament is scheduled for March 30 at The King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The entry fee for the four-person scramble is $175 per person. All participants will receive a Titleist SM4 Vokey Wedge, and the fee also pays for greens fees, use of a cart, lunch and eligibility for prizes. April 6-The Jim Sanders Realty Maui Women's Golf Championship is scheduled for April 6 at Maui Country Club in Spreckelsville. The event is open to women who are Maui residents at least 18 years old with a current GHIN handicap. The entry fee is $60, which also pays for greens fees, use of a cart, an awards luncheon and eligibility for prizes. The entry deadline is March 26, or after the field of 72 is full. May 11-A U.S. Open local qualifier is scheduled for May 11 at the King Kamehameha Golf Club in Waikapu. Entry must be completed at usga.org/champs/apply by 11 a.m. on April 24. Sectional qualifying will take place June 3 at 11 U.S. sites, and the tournament is scheduled for June 13-16 at Merion Golf Club in Ardmore, Pa. Contact: Jeff Halpin, 667-1111.

* ROLLER DERBY

March 10-A roller derby match between the Maui Roller Girls and Oregon Trail Mix is scheduled for

4 p.m. on March 10 at CDF Engineering, at 400 Hana Highway in Kahului. Tickets can be purchased for $10 in advance at mauirollergirls.com, and for $15 at the door. Admission is free for youths under 12, and for anyone with valid military or student identification.

March 17-The St. Patrick's Day "Run Til You're Green" 3-mile race is scheduled for 5 p.m. on March 17 at the Kahului Ale House. Registration can be completed at mauirunning.com until March 9, with fees of $25 for youths 18 and under, and $35 for others. Race-day registration will be $40 for all participants, and will take place from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m., when packet pick-ups are also scheduled.

March 4-April 3-Learn-to-swim classes, with instruction from veteran teacher Janet Renner, are scheduled for 6-7 p.m. on Mondays and Tuesdays in Kihei in two sessions - the first begins Monday and runs through March 18, and the second is scheduled for March 20-April 3.
