Sydnee Pagan, a student from Kaahumanu Hou Christian School, won third place in the Fleet Reserve Association 2012 American Patriotism Essay Contest for grade 11. There were 161 essays submitted from all Hawaii schools, according to a news release. Pagan won a $100 monetary award.
