University of Hawaii Maui College Phi Theta Kappa members Megan Simmons and Corey Kanae gather signatures for the Call to Action, a pledge to increase college completion rates. Students gathered outside the Pa‘ina building on the UH-Maui College campus March 13 and signed a mass pledge to complete their degrees and certificates at the college before transferring to another school or entering the job market. The event was hosted by the UH-MC chapter of Phi Theta Kappa. The honor society members served as the student arm of the Community College Completion Corps, a national education initiative, joining thousands of students nationally, according to a news release. About 200 students took the pledge.
