The Maui News

Conner George doubled home a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a tie and lead the University of Hawaii baseball team to a 6-4 win over UC Santa Barbara at Les Murakami Stadium on Saturday.

The Rainbows won for the sixth time in eight games after a 1-15 start to the season. They improved to 2-1 in the Big West Conference with the final game of the four-game opening set today at 1:05 p.m.

George's double was his only hit of the game and drove in Marc Flores and Kaeo Aliviado. Flores was 3-for-3 with three runs.

John Finn (1-2) picked up the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief.

Greg Mahle (4-4) took the loss for UCSB (13-12, 1-2).
