The Baldwin High School softball team set up a showdown for the Maui Interscholastic League Division I regular-season title with a 2-1, eight-inning win over Maui High on Wednesday at Patsy Mink Field in Kahului.
The Bears (9-1) scored the walk-off win when Sky Ellazar singled home the winning run in the bottom of the eighth after singles by Lyana Bermudez, Haunani Morton and Gabriella Alonso loaded the bases with one out.
The MIL regular-season crown and a state berth will be on the line when the Bears meet two-time defending champion Lahainaluna Wednesday at the Lunas' on-campus field.
Alonso, a freshman pitching in relief of starter Alysha Sakumura, picked up her first MIL win with five innings of shutout relief with one strikeout and one walk. Regular starter Sanae Nakoa was ill.
Samantha Ohigashi tossed a five-hitter for Maui High (1-8).
* Lahainaluna 10, Kamehameha Maui 0, 5 Innings: At Lahainaluna, the Lunas easily moved into the showdown with the Bears behind a 13-hit attack that included seven doubles.
Jessica Wallace and Kekuu Haake each had two doubles, while Kaua Arcangel, Lithe Pokipala-Waiohu and Tobi Bonifacio all had one for the Lunas. Haley Nakamura smacked a triple.
Hope Morikawa pitched a one-hitter for the Lunas (9-1), while the Warriors (4-6) had a double from Kalei Kubota.
