Running afoul of the pack

April 19, 2013
The Maui News
A silver guinea fowl runs to join its pals while roaming along Omaopio Road recently. The domesticated birds are known for helping keep down pests like ticks, fleas, grasshoppers and other problem bugs. State wildlife biologist Fern Duvall said he wouldn’t mind having a few around his house. “They’re sort of like dogs. They’ll come home to roost in their home yard,” Duvall said. “They’re great. They’re smart. They don’t eat what they’re not supposed to.”
