First photo: Longtime Maehara Stadium volunteer groundskeeper Warren Shimabukuro polices the area around third base Wednesday afternoon as Kailua High School baseball players warm up in left field before their Wally Yonamine Hawaii High School Athletic Association state playoff game against Iolani. Shimabukuro made a promise to his friend Ichiro "Iron" Maehara that he would help make sure the field named in his honor remained in good shape. He also made a promise to the organizers of the state baseball tournament that he would stick around for one more tourney on Maui. Shimabukuro, who will turn 80 this summer, said this will likely be the last time he volunteers for a high school baseball tournament.
