‘Nourishment’ for healing hands

May 11, 2013
The Maui News

FIRST PHOTO: Sheena Higa (center), a registered nurse in the Intensive Care Unit at Maui Memorial Medical Center, receives a blessing from Chaplain Danette Kong on Friday (from right), while fellow nurses Ana Bland and Lexy Loney observe. The service, called the "Blessing of the Hands," concludes National Nurses Week at the hospital, which included free massages and ice cream earlier in the week. Although the blessing, which is held every year in the old lobby courtyard at the hospital, brings together health care providers at the hospital, many workers are usually too busy to attend.
