Students learn the dangers of smoking

May 19, 2013
The Maui News
Maui Memorial Medical Center heart surgeon Dr. Tracy Dorheim talks to students at Waihee Elementary School this month about the dangers of smoking, including e-cigarettes. The increasing usage of of e-cigarettes among school-aged children has many concerned because there has been very little information available on what chemicals they contain or how much nicotine is inhaled. Members of Maui Memorial Medical Center’s heart program visit schools in Maui County throughout the year to talk to children about cigarettes, e-cigarettes and how to make better, healthier life choices. Dr. Rod Bjordahl, chief medical officer at Maui Memorial Medical Center, is sitting behind Dorheim.
