Lanai City residents arraigned in thefts
Two Lanai City residents have been arraigned on felony charges in connection with the theft of clothing, furniture and household items from a neighbor's apartment during a burglary.
Lynn Thomas, 49, who is also known as Lynn Trotter, and Ryan Malec, 22, have pleaded not guilty to charges of first-degree burglary and second-degree theft.
Both were released after posting bail of $30,000 each, with July 22 trial dates set for them in 2nd Circuit Court.
Malec was arrested April 29 when officers found some of the stolen property in the residence on Kukui Circle where he and Thomas were living, police said. Neighbors had reported seeing Thomas walking from the back entrance of the burglarized apartment to her apartment, according to court documents.
The apartment was burglarized between Feb. 28 and April 6, court records show.
Police said the total value of the stolen property was about $1,490.
Thomas, who wasn't at the apartment when police executed a search warrant and found the stolen property, was arrested on Maui the next day, police records show.
