May 25, 2013
The Maui News

FIRST PHOTO: U.S. Army Col. David J. Clark lays a wreath at the grave of Maui Medal of Honor recipient Anthony Kaho'ohanohano on Friday afternoon at the Makawao Veterans Cemetery. Clark is the executive director of the 60th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee. Taking part in the ceremony were Maui Korean War veterans and members of the Kaho'ohanohano family. Kaho'ohanohano, a Wailuku native, was awarded the Medal of Honor posthumously in May 2011 for his heroics in Korea, where he died Sept. 1, 1951, during a battle at Chupa-ri. The Pentagon-based colonel and his staff were scheduled to take part in 10 ceremonies in four days in Hawaii as the 60th anniversary commemoration nears its close this summer.
