OUT AND ABOUT . . . You never know who you will bump elbows with at island events, particularly at those thrown by Four Seasons Resort Maui in Wailea.
At its Vintage Wine Weekend oceanfront gala on Sunday, I spotted actor Chris Noth of "Law & Order," "Sex and the City" and now "The Good Wife," the latter of which he was nominated for a Golden Globe.
Also enjoying the gourmet cuisine and wine were actress Olivia Wilde ("Tron Legacy") and fiance Jason Sudeikis of "Saturday Night Live."

Maui's own Sheldon Simeon of "Top Chef" fame was getting just as much or more attention-as attendees kept asking for pictures.
But we're so sorry to hear that Four Seasons' General Manager and Regional Vice President Thomas Steinhauer will be transferring at the end of June to Orlando, Fla., to be a regional director there.
Of course, Four Seasons doesn't miss a beat and will throw Taste of Chocolate from 8 to 10 p.m. on Friday, June 14, with music by a 10-piece marimba band and over-the-top drinks and desserts as part of the Maui Film Festival at Wailea.

"Then the soiree at Spago will kick off from 10 p.m. to midnight," says festival founder and director Barry Rivers. Tickets are still discounted through June 3. Go online and visit www.mauifilmfestival.com.

BITS AND PIECES . . . Sharing their fusion cuisine as caterers all over the island are the chefs from Three's Bar & Grill at Kihei Kalama Village.
This month, you may have seen Cody Christopher, Jaron Blosser and Travis Morrin serving food at Maui Brewers Festival at the MACC, or perhaps at the UH Maui College west side chancellor fundraiser.
Now Three's Bar & Grill will cater the Cameron Center fundraiser on June 8 at the Yokouchi Estate in Wailuku for 350 people. The charity event benefits the social service agencies housed at the center, assisting people with special needs. Maui Culinary Academy will prepare specialty desserts. The evening will also include hosted cocktails, wine, and silent and live auctions.
For tickets, call 244-5546 or email email@example.com.
At the recent Open Table Diners Choice awards, the Top 100 Outdoor Dining Restaurants in the U.S. were awarded, including Gannon's and Capische? in Wailea and Japengo in Kaanapali.
Kahana Grill has snagged Scherrer Winery for one night on Saturday, June 8 - in the midst of Kapalua Wine & Food Festival - to do a special dinner.
"It's really a pleasure and a privilege to team up with Scherrer Winery to present another dinner together," says Alex Stanislaw, executive chef.
"Fred Scherrer makes cooler climate unmanipulated wine that really represents a sense of place. He works really hard to allow the wine to be spectacular, by handcrafting the old fashioned way, taking great care of the grapes once they are harvested, and then letting them do their thing - that is, to become great wine."
Maui's favorite laugh-a-minute winemaker Gary Pisoni of Pisoni Vineyards will also branch out from the festival to appear at a special dinner June 8 at Sonz at Swan Court in the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort & Spa.
Roy's Kaanapali will present the Peju wine dinner at 6 p.m. June 8 with compressed watermelon (all the rage these days) with peeky toe crab, roasted Muscovy duck, Asian braised beef and Hawaiian vintage chocolate mousse. Cost is $85, plus tax and tip. Call 669-6999.

What pairs perfectly with wine? Why, cheese of course. We hear Surfing Goat Dairy in Kula now has 28 different flavors of chocolate, cheese-filled truffles, six infused with Ocean Vodka.
"We also have strawberry basil with Ocean Vodka, and truffles with kalamansi limes from our orchard," says the dairy's Angela Reichert. "The truffles are $2.50 each, and $12 for a box of six."
By the way, the new Ocean Vodka facility is located just a driveway below Surfing Goat Dairy on Omaopio Drive in Kula, so it's easy to visit both in the same day. In fact, on Saturdays, you may book a two-hour grand dairy tour from 9 to 11 a.m. with a hands-on visit (milking the goats), and tasting of 20 of the various gourmet cheeses with olives, crackers, etc. Cost is $25.
