FIRST PHOTO: Shaye Pua, 9, and stepbrother Kayden Medeiros, 9, hold signs along Old Haleakala Highway in Pukalani on Tuesday afternoon while learning a lesson in economics. With a little help from parents Duke and Melissa Pua, the youngsters picked, sorted, washed and bagged lychee fruit. They also worked out a deal with a Haiku farmer to trade half their profits for the right to pick their fruit on his farm. "The rest is 100 percent theirs," Melissa Pua said. "They can do whatever they want with it. We wanted to teach them about business."
