Kolten Wong, a former player for the University of Hawaii baseball team, was selected to participate in the 2013 Futures Game.
Wong, a second baseman, was batting .316 with five home runs, 24 RBIs and 11 stolen bases through 68 games for the Louisville Cardinals, the Triple-A affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals.
He will play for the U.S. team against the World team in the Futures Game, which is an All-Star contest for minor league players. This year's game is scheduled for July 14 at Citi Field in New York.
Wong, who is from Hilo, was ranked the No. 79 top prospect by MLB.com prior to this season.
Wong was drafted No. 22 overall in 2011. He graduated from Kamehameha Schools Hawaii.
