Temporary breakup

July 14, 2013
The Maui News
A Horizon shipping container fell onto Kaahumanu Avenue on Saturday morning near the Puunene Avenue intersection, disrupting traffic heading in the Wailuku direction for several hours. Maui Police Department spokesman Lt. William Juan said that the container detached from a Tri-Isle Truck Co. semi at 8:53 a.m. Saturday. The trailer rolled forward and came to rest along the shoulder of Kaahumanu Avenue at a 45-degree angle against some trees, Juan said. Around noon, two Wailuku-bound lanes were closed for approximately 30 minutes as a crane was used to reattach the trailer to the truck. No injuries were reported, and the container sustained minor damage.
