Body found in carpet ID'd as Realtor
HONOLULU - A woman found dead and wrapped in a carpet has been identified as a Honolulu realtor and aspiring actress.
The death of 58-year-old Mary Beth San Juan is being investigated as a homicide.
Hawaii News Now said that San Juan was the principal broker for Happy Hawaii Homes, which is listed at the Punahou Street address where her body was found in the driveway by her ex-husband Tuesday evening.
Family members said San Juan and her husband split about six years ago but were still close.
According to authorities, San Juan's ex-husband last saw her Saturday night and was worried when he hadn't heard from her by Tuesday. He reportedly flagged down a security guard when he couldn't find San Juan, and the two later found her body.
Kauai County seeks input on parks plan
HONOLULU - Kauai County is asking the public for input on a draft master plan for the county's parks and recreation facilities.
Printed copies of the plan are available at all public libraries on Kauai. It's also viewable online at kauaiparks.com.
Kauai Mayor Bernard P. Carvalho Jr. says proper management of recreational opportunities has a positive effect on the economy, environment and the overall well-being of Kauai.
He said the plan lays the groundwork to achieve these goals.
The county said Wednesday that the Department of Parks and Recreation will hold a series of meetings to review plan details and gather feedback.
Meetings will be held in Kapaa, Hanalei, Koloa, Waimea and Lihue.
This is the first time the county has updated its parks master plan since it was originally prepared in 1978.
