We often write about people in Maui County who help others every chance they get.
For the third year in a row, a fun outing for golf and tennis enthusiasts will also serve to raise money for food for Lanai through the Maui Food Bank.
Scheduled for Sept. 13-15, the goal for this year's "Food for Lanai Fundraiser - Having Fun Helping Others" is $15,000. Organizers hope to have 250 folks make the trip to Lanai.
There will be two days of golf with a Saturday round at The Experience at Koele and a Sunday round at The Challenge at Manele. There will be a tennis round robin at Manele Bay's courts.
Thanks to the efforts of people like Stephen Fulton, Randy Coon, Lisa Judge and Jennifer Brittin-Fulton, special fares have been secured for transportation through Expeditions and Trilogy. Additionally, both the Four Seasons Lodge at Koele and the Four Seasons Resort at Manele Bay have set aside a block of rooms at discounted rates for participants.
An application for the outing may be secured by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org. There are limits to the number of golf and tennis participants, so get your application quickly.
Remember, the proceeds from the outing will go to Maui Food Bank, which will distribute food to the following organizations on Lanai: Union Church, Lanai Youth Center, Kings Chapel, Sacred Hearts Church, Women Helping Women and MEO.
So, enjoy a sporting weekend on Lanai and help feed some people at the same time. Get your application for the "Having Fun Helping Others" fundraiser.
