For the seventh consecutive year, members of all Rotary Clubs on Maui recently manned doors at local businesses to collect school supplies and donations for the children of Maui.
Fortysix boxes and 56 bags of supplies were collected and more than $5,800 in cash donations received.
Each Maui Rotary Club determined the recipients of the supplies and cash donations. The clubs also distributed the supplies to Maui schools. Monetary donations were distributed to Keiki Kupboard at six schools, Kihei Youth Center and Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center. The following businesses allowed Rotary members to accept donations: Walgreen's in Lahaina, Walmart, Office Max in Kahului and Longs in Kihei, Pukalani, Kahului and Lahaina.
Carol Perry, of the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea, uses collected funds to purchase school supplies for the children at the Kihei Youth Center.
This islandwide School Supplies Drive was one of the many community service projects sponsored by the Rotary Clubs on Maui. The nine clubs are a part of Rotary Internationals' global network of more than 32,000 clubs worldwide.
