Celebrate Historic Lahaina

Lahaina Restoration Foundation will present free celebration events that mark the completion of the IMAGINE community planning process for the Lahaina Harbor area and commemorate the opening of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration exhibits in Old Lahaina Courthouse.
Friday: Author Katherine Kama‘ema‘e Smith will present a talk story on “The Fleming Journals: West Maui Land Records and Family History 1905-1910” from 3 to 4 p.m. at Lahaina Public Library.
The grand opening of the NOAA exhibits and reopening of Lahaina Heritage Museum will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. at Old Lahaina Courthouse.
Saturday: The public can enjoy a variety of activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Old Lahaina Courthouse, Banyan Tree Park, Lahaina Harborfront and Lahaina Public Library Park. Festivities will include an arts and crafts fair, Hawaiian music, Hawaiian cultural video screenings, fishing displays, a surf contest, walking tours, kapa making, poi pounding and more.
