A man and woman were arrested Friday night after they entered a Kahului home without permission and threatened residents with a large cane knife, police said.
Valentine Redo, 47, of Hana was being held in lieu of $45,000 bail on charges of first-degree burglary, first-degree terroristic threatening and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
Kaleolani Lee Rojas, 43, of Wailuku was released after posting a $6,000 bail bond on charges of first-degree burglary and first-degree terroristic threatening.
Police said the two went to the residence at 8:50 p.m. looking for someone suspected of taking her belongings. After entering the home, Redo brandished a large cane knife while saying, "Somebody is going to die tonight," police said.
Police were called and both suspects were arrested. In the vehicle driven by Redo, police reported finding two rifles. As a convicted felon, Redo is not allowed to possess firearms, police said.
According to court records, Redo has a conviction for unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle in a 2008 case. In a pending court case, he is charged with two counts each of first-degree criminal property damage and second-degree reckless endangering, reckless driving, third-degree promotion of a detrimental drug and DUI.
