FIRST PHOTO: Tattersalls Masters Australia's (from left) Rhys Mainstone, Ridge Grimsey and Peter Thiel celebrate Saturday morning after helping the team win the Maui Channel Swim for a seventh straight year. The trio joined with Trent Grimsey, Codie Grimsey and George O'Brien to cover the 9.9-mile course from the old Club Lanai pier to the Kaanapali Beach Hotel in 3 hours, 9 minutes and 38 seconds. "There was quite a strong current towards the end of the race, though, so we were swimming uphill a bit," said Thiel, the captain, who has been on all seven first-place teams. "But conditions earlier were good and the water was lovely; very clear." The 42nd annual event drew 21 teams, with competitors ranging from 19 to 71 years old. Tattersalls Engine 300 (3:23:53) finished second and Aussie Ticker (3:28:34) was third.
