Nova Feituufoou Ponitini, 77, of Kahului, Maui, passed away on September 14, 2013, at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on November 1, 1935, in Tonga.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 19, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kahului Stake Center.
Visitation will also be held from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 20, 2013, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Kahului Stake Center; service will begin at 10:00 a.m.; burial will follow, 12:00 noon, at Puehuehuiki Cemetery in Lahaina.
Nova was a retired wood carver. He is survived by his sons, Sioeli (Litia) Ponitini, Leo Ponitini, Vili (Aniti) Ponitini, Falapaongo (Mele) Ponitini, Salesi (Nesi) Ponitini; daughters, Uaikiki (Tevita) Lavaka, Poaki (Talia) Kaulave, Vika (Peteli) Peteli, Luisa (Kina) Ngalu, Linita (Peter) Holani; brothers, Taulango (Finau) Ponitini, Hola (Siesia) Ponitini, Sione (Ane) Ponitini; hanai brother, Solomone Peni; hanai sister, Seini Funaki; 98 grandchildren; and 54 great-grandchildren.
