Civil Defense to test warning sirens today
Warning sirens will be tested at 11:45 a.m. today to ensure that the system is working properly following repairs to correct malfunctions during a test last week.
Civil Defense said it will be replicating the cancel tones that caused mechanical sirens to produce short tones. The goal of today's test is to have no sounds.
If a siren does sound, Civil Defense officials ask the public to contact them at 270-7285. The public also may call that number with questions or concerns about the test of the Outdoor Siren Warning System.
The monthly Emergency Alert System and Siren Warning System tests take place on the first working day of the month. Next month, the test will be held at 11:45 a.m Oct. 1.
