Kihei resident Leslie Mullens is among 15 individuals from across the state to be named to the second cohort of Omidyar Fellows.
Started in 2012, the Omidyar Fellows develops best practices in leadership and cultivates a community of emerging executives to bring positive change to the state of Hawaii, according to an announcement.
"Since introducing our inaugural cohort of Omidyar Fellows last year, we have seen this program build stronger leaders, foster more effective organizations and plant the seeds for long-lasting cross-sector relationships," said Kalei Stern, director of the Omidyar Fellows. "We look forward to expanding the Omidyar Fellows program with this new set of exceptional leaders who will continue to transform Hawaii for the better."
Omidyar Fellows were selected through a rigorous application and selection process from a pool of nearly 100 applicants. Selection is based on candidates' experience in both professional and community settings and their capacity and passion to be a leader for Hawaii's future.
Mullens is president and senior strategist of PlayBook Consulting Group, a Maui-based management consulting firm focused on statewide strategic planning and organizational development.
She drives PlayBook's vision and is responsible for new business development, and team management, and is the firm's chief strategy and capacity-building facilitator for small businesses, nonprofits and government clients.
Prior to founding PlayBook, Mullens led Cisco Systems' global B2B Ecommerce strategy team.
She holds a bachelor's degree in political science from UCLA, is past president of the Rotary Club of Kahului and serves on Hawaii's Small Business Regulatory Review Board.
