Planting honors sister city relationship

Mayor Alan Arakawa (from left) plants a rose bush in the Peace Garden in front of the county building with Fukuyama City Mayor Akira Hada, Fukushima Council Vice Chairman Shoichi Hougi and Maui County Council Chairwoman Gladys Baisa on Wednesday. The event was held to honor the sister city relationship between Maui County and Fukuyama City. Other activities included koto and taiko performances and ceremonial gift exchanges. The Fukuyama delegation participated in the Maui Fair Parade on Thursday and will visit with senior citizens, participate in cultural activities and do some sightseeing.
