Somos Ohana Nicaragua will host a fundraising luncheon and silent auction at Cary and Eddie's Hideaway in Kahului from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday.
The event aims to raise money for a secondary school that the local nonprofit is building in rural northwestern Nicaragua.
Nicaraguan crafts will be on sale; the public also can bid on items ranging from hotel stays at the Ka'anapali Beach Hotel to original art works.
Maui volunteer and retired physical therapist Jim Kahler works with camp attendee Elvin Alvarado in Nicaragua. Somos Ohana Nicaragua has run a two-week day camp for youths with special needs for the last two years.
Attendees may order from five menu options, including vegetarian, fish and kalua pig sandwich, between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. Desserts are available.
Angel y Sus Companeros will play Latin music from noon.

Somos Ohana Nicaragua means "We Are Family - Nicaragua." The volunteer organization has worked in the municipality of Villanueva, Department of Chinandega, as a nonprofit since 2006 and as community volunteers since 1999, a news release about the event said.
Among the projects completed by the group are several homes for extremely poor families, five schools and two water systems. The group has donated cows and bicycles, funded scholarships and transportation for students and cancer patients, brought in physical and speech therapists, and for the past two years run a two-week day camp for youths with special needs.
